The International Public Safety Data Institute (IPSDI) Congratulates Research Council Member on Presidential Appointment as Director of the United States Census Bureau

Chantilly, VA (November 11, 2021) The International Public Safety Data Institute (IPSDI) congratulates Dr. Rob Santos on his appointment by President Joe Biden as Director of the United States Census Bureau. Dr. Santos worked with the team of IPSDI Researchers long before the IPSDI was founded and helped lay the groundwork for the creation of IPSDI in 2018.

Dr. Santos, in addition to helping found IPSDI, has served on the IPSDI Research Council to validate data models and outcomes. He led the effort to calculate and validate a national sample of fire departments to be used by researchers to conduct studies assuring that the results could be extrapolated nationally.

Dr. Santos was part of the original group of researchers that came together to plan and conduct the NIST Residential Fireground Experiments Report (NIST Tech Note 1661), the NIST High-Rise Fireground Experiments Report (NIST Tech Note 1797), and the Report on EMS Field Experiments as part of the Multiphase Study on Firefighter Health & Safety funded by DHS/FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grants. Dr. Santos, through a partnership with the Urban Institute, served as the lead statistician and methodologist for the research team since 2005.
